The Hottest Colour Trends On The Horizon
As autumn is upon us and the end of 2020 draws near, we’re already starting to see next year’s exciting home décor colour trends emerging. And more and more of us are spending time at home in the current climate…
Marianne Shillingford, Dulux UK’s Creative Director, says: “For many of us, lockdown has served to emphasise how important our home environment has become, it has been the place where we work, learn, relax.”
So hot home décor trends are just what we need to keep us warm as the weather starts to get colder. Let’s take a look at the hottest colour trends of 2021…
- Earthy tones
Natural and soothing hues are used to create a sense of comfort. Think hygge—soft furnishings and neutral palettes create cosiness with warm wooden accents, setting up a space somewhere between a log cabin and a spa resort.
- Dusty pink
Pink might feel bold, but the secret to its subtlety is the dusty tone. Colin Roby-Welford, a Creative Director at Fired Earth, says: “Gentle, optimistic colours will be a key trend for 2021. With their blue undertones, dusky pinks are ideal for injecting warmth and vitality into the palettes of grey and blue.”
- Mellow yellow
Step away from the mustard yellow, which has been one of this year’s favourites. Next year is all about the gentle glow of nature; sunshine, wild flower meadows, and lemon drizzle cake. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute, says: “Floral hues reflective of gardens in springtime awaken our spirit, inspiring feelings of much needed optimism.”
